The ADCKC team would like to send a huge thank you to all of the athletes, volunteers, and members of the media who came out to support our 2016 Nationals Media Kick-Off event! Thanks to everyone’s hard work and dedication our media event on Tuesday, June 14 ran remarkably.
At the event, the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation, Support4Sport program proudly announced their sponsorship title as a Sport Legacy Partner. Support4Sport is contributing to the new paddling return lane. This addition will take Lake Banook from a Grade "B" course to a Grade “A” racing course.
The return lane helps migrate paddler's wash when they return from the finish line to the start line. A return lane ensures smoother water for all races. Through this upgrade, Lake Banook holds the opportunity to host more upcoming international events. Without the contribution made by Support4Sport, the upgrade to our return lane would not be possible.
We would also like to gratefully acknowledge the support of our Government Partners in Sport: Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia as well as our event sponsors: The Chronicle Herald (Platinum Sponsor), immediac (Official Website & App Sponsor), McInnes Cooper (Champions of Rings Event), FX 101.9 Today’s Country (Gold Sponsor), 89.9 The Wave (Gold Sponsor), Halifax Stanfield International Airport (Silver Sponsor), T4G (Silver Sponsor), Deloitte (Silver Sponsor), Economical Insurance (Silver Sponsor), Northern Trust (Bronze Sponsor), and Royal Flush (Bronze Sponsor).

We are very honoured to have Trish lead the Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Initiatives for our National Championships!
Riley Melanson is a 17 year-old Dartmouth native who has been paddling with the Banook Canoe Club since she was four. She quickly fell in love with the sport when she began in Kiddie Canoe and it has been her passion ever since.
Aside from her regular regattas, Riley has participated in the Canada Cup Tour with the ADCKC Team and competed at Nationals Championship last year in Ottawa. As Riley gets older, she reflects on her passion and commitment toward paddling. She one day hopes to have the honour of representing her country in the Olympics.
Paddling is Riley's motivation throughout her busy schedules, she says that paddling is the main activity that helps clear her mind. “Being around the atmosphere and around the people here is very calming to me.”
We are excited to watch Riley’s passion and dedication to the sport grow. We wish Riley good luck with all her paddling goals.
It takes hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their time, talent, skill, and passion for the sport of Canoe Kayak to make the Nationals a success.
